29th June 2025 - Next Game Update

On July 12th 2025 @ 12:30 PM EDT we are updating the game with all historical content up to June 28th 2004.

You will also see some historically significant rare items introduced over time once this update is live ;)

Documented changes

Newspost: New game update system

This new update system allows for partial updates to be downloaded:

  • Models are now stored as separate files, and jingles are saved locally instead of downloaded each time.
    Extra files are able to be preloaded on the title screen, including maps!

This system is used up to May 2006 where it receives another update.

Newspost: Elemental Workshop Quest

  • Elemental Workshop Quest added to Seer's Village
  • Thieving stun timer was decreased from 13t to 8t

Newspost: Agility improved and bug fixes

  • Agility run restoration scales 50% faster with agility levels (pre-2025 OSRS)
  • Fishing spots will no longer intermittently disappear-reappear with a lot of players around, this was a client-side visual only

p.s. They noted in this update that random-event NPCs appear on top of players, but this wasn't the case until later. By September the NPCs were updated to do this via alwaysontop=yes, so possibly a July or August update? (lacking client data to confirm dates)

Newspost: New In-Game Player Moderators

  • Silver/Gold crowns added to ingame moderators' chat messages (white text was used to differentiate JMods before this)

Newspost: Special Attacks

  • Special attacks created - there are 11 special attacks at this point in time
  • Mining rocks and theiving stalls now allow multiple players to get the resource on the same tick
  • Strange fruit regenerates 30% run energy

Newspost: Various tweaks to the game

  • The game is now 765x503 instead of 789x532. This results in less padding around the edges of the screen and is what most people think of when they hear "fixed mode". The chat box is also brighter
  • Items have white outlines when you select them in your inventory
  • Staff of iban's level requirement was fixed

Newspost: Lots more improvements

  • Friends list limit for "members" was increased to 200 - f2p-locked players can only have 100 friends
  • Multiple hitsplats appear during combat. 2 can appear per tick and 4 recent hits visible at once before they disappear
  • NPCs will retreat and pull the player towards them when being attacked out of range
  • Dragging items in banks will scroll down or up automatically

Undocumented changes

Normal bows get a different recolor, they are more distinct from the Oak bows now

Dragonhide equipment goes up in value:

  • Blue dragon vambraces 2500 -> 3000 (1800 HA)
  • Red dragon vambraces 2500 -> 3600 (2160 HA)
  • Black dragon vambraces 2500 -> 4320 (2592 HA)
  • Blue dragonhide chaps 3900 -> 4320 (2592 HA)
  • Red dragonhide chaps 3900 -> 5180 (3108 HA)
  • Black dragonhide chaps 3900 -> 6220 (3732 HA)
  • Blue dragonhide body 7800 -> 9360 (5616 HA)
  • Red dragonhide body 7800 -> 11230 (6738 HA)
  • Black dragonhide body 7800 -> 13480 (8088 HA)

"Use" quick-options added to the range and furnace on tutorial island, so confused players know to use items on it

Hint arrows appear over the minimap area e.g. on tutorial island

Tutorial island NPCs will always show on top of players

Teleport quick-option added to Wizards that teleport you to the Rune Essence mine

Trade quick-option added to Siegfried Erkle

Right-click options draw top-left down so you will always see options and names first
