Introducing: Legends Quest!

With this update, May 2004 is now feature-complete and early RS is forever preserved. I'm glad you're all here to see it and save a slice of history for yourself :)

We're working on addressing bugs, polishing and catching inaccuracies, and working on the next game update. There's no timeline for that at this moment, but we will set expectations with you when we're confident in our efforts. Our next goal is the end of June 2004 (2004-06-28).

There was a hotfix that also adjusted some server IDs -- big lesson learned -- but we needed the opportunity to apply an (engine) NPC fix so it's not all for naught... Fishing spots should be teleporting less frequently!
I'm revisiting what limitations deployments have and what all has to be reloaded together during these deployments so this won't happen again.

The random behavior you observed was because triggers were using the wrong categories during the ~10 minutes of issues.
